Rift Valley Rock Climbing

The Rift Valley's volcanic cliffs offer some of Kenya's best accessible rock climbing, and this two-day trip is built to suit first-time climbers and experienced ones side by side, with routes graded across the full range and guides adjusting difficulty in real time rather than sticking to a fixed plan.

All climbs are led by certified guides with full safety gear provided and checked before every ascent — helmets, harnesses, ropes rated and inspected, nothing improvised. Groups stay deliberately small, one guide for every two climbers, so nobody is left waiting at the base of the cliff while attention is elsewhere.

The setting does most of the work: rust-coloured volcanic rock faces rising directly above the escarpment, with views back across the Rift Valley floor that make even the belay stations feel like a scenic overlook.
